Three Generations of Service, One Mission – Empowering Education
ASM Manickam Charitable Trust was established in 2013 by the late Thiru Anagai Manickam Arumugam (Kurazhvazhiselvar) in memory of his father, Thiru A.S. Manickam Mudaliar. The Trust was founded with a simple yet powerful vision: to support deserving students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds and help them achieve their educational aspirations. What began as a noble initiative funded through the founder's personal resources has today grown into a continuing legacy of educational service and social responsibility.
Our Heritage
A tradition of education and community service
The roots of this philanthropic journey date back to Thiru A.S. Manickam Mudaliar, a respected businessman and social contributor from Anakaputhur. Beginning his handloom business ventures in Singapore and Malaysia in 1947, he achieved remarkable success while remaining deeply committed to community welfare. In 1964, he made a landmark contribution towards upgrading the Government Middle School in Anakaputhur into a High School. His dedication to education continues to be remembered and honored by the local community.

Our Founder
In memory of a life devoted to service
The late Thiru Anagai Manickam Arumugam, affectionately known as Kurazhvazhiselvar, was a passionate philanthropist, entrepreneur, and Tamil scholar. Inspired by the teachings of the Thirukkural, he dedicated his life to social service and educational development. Recognizing the transformative power of education, he established ASM Manickam Charitable Trust in 2013 to provide financial assistance to deserving students.

Continuing the Vision
Three generations carrying the mission forward
Following the founder's passing in 2018, Mrs. Vasantha Arumugam continued to support and strengthen the Trust's mission. Today, under the leadership of Mr. A. Vijayamurugan, Managing Trustee, the organization continues to grow and expand its impact. Despite the reduction in bank deposit interest rates over the years, he has personally contributed substantial funds to ensure uninterrupted educational assistance for students. The Trust is also actively supported by Dr. Kavitha Balasubramanian, carrying forward a family tradition of service that now spans three generations.
